Stradh is not exactly a sympathetic character, but this being written from his point of view, it is easier to understand his harsh reign. After you do get used to it, it becomes a fast paced and exciting read. It’s a vampire novel, and not a particularly revolutionary one at that, but “I, Strahd” has to sttahd read in the context of what it is for, when it was out, and ii it means for the world around it, and in that context it shines strong.

It was originally recommended by some friends and became a favorite. I, Strahd is a cautionary tale like no other, and if the remainder of the Ravenloft franchise I haven’t read is half as good as this, then I’ll be happy to read them.


The official title is I, Strahd. It’s pretty much a classic Vampire story, with it’s Gothic tragic style.

I really hoped they would have remained as a second through the entire book but alas, no. This is also the first I, Strahd novel with the second novel emmoirs I, Strahd: Feb 14, David Colpitts rated it liked it. I thought I knew much of Strahd’s story, but this shed some light on parts that were unclear and helped develop his character in a manner that added in a positive way. I might be a touch generous with this book.

I took one of her hands, and she straightened how like a tall flower she was, and with a bow, lightly kissed her fingertips. However, Sergei falls in love with a village girl named Tatyana, who Strahd also falls in love with. The way that things are described almost shouted out things to come.

I was originally going to give this 3 stars out of 5. When I was reading this, I couldn’t help but think when the events of Vampire of the Mists falls, if this happened after the last entry or sometime during. Like I said, Strahd is just wonderful.

Jonathan Stuard They are pretty easy to get strajd. Cover of the first edition. May 19, Andrew Bass rated it it was amazing. It is darker than the current genre of vampire novels and even though it was written by a lady author seems to have a very masculine point of view.


The plot covers Strahd’s z, his choice to become a vampire, and his path from that choice to his weird existence surrounded by zombies in a trashed castle.

All said and done he made an interesting vampire just like Johnny Depp in Dark Shadows. I would read this one again.

No trivia or quizzes yet. For those of you that have read Vampire of the Mists, what happens here is really no surprise. The beginning is mostly about his struggles, keeping his new lands and people of Barovia in line with his regime.

A dark gothic delight. I have to go buy the other books now because it’s not over. Once again, it is a beautiful woman that brings about all the strife. This is strahf we can’t have nice things. No, but it wasn’t fantastic either.

So I have to listen to the bulk of it so my character can know what happened.

They made most of the book unreadable in the module because otherwise they’d have to reprint I Strahd, which is impractical for publishing purposes.
